48" Octagon Game Table Xtender for Poker, Blackjack Or Texas Hold-Em by Ohio Table Pad Company

Texas Hold-Em is one of my favorite games, so when I ran across the Texas Hold-Em Table Xtender by the Ohio Table Pad Company for only $119.00 I was thrilled.   The table is available in Cranberry, Sand, Saddle, Cinnamon, Chestnut, Glacier and Black leather-grain padded vinyl tops.  I purchased two for a poker party at my home.   The tables fit nicely on top of our dinning table and we put the other one on top of a card table.  Texas Hold-Em is one of the most thrilling games to play.  It consists of two cards being dealt face down to each player and then five community cards being placed face up. It involves betting for chips and ultimately one person wins after several series of cards is reveiled on the table.   This is a great game for entertaining a group of people.  Our party consisted of 15 people and we played Texas Hold-Em until 11:00 in the evening.  Several people made comments on how they loved the tables and thought I got a great deal.

2010 Hasbro Ultimate Gifts Collection

It's that time of the year again, Christmas! It's a joyous time of the year and I love when my daughter hands over her Christmas list and all my other neices and nephews fill me in on what they want for Christmas. I get excited about Christmas and the shopping that goes along with it. I guess it's because I love shopping and I know where I can find some great deals each year. I like shopping at the stores but I also find it convenient to shop online. Some of the stores that I enjoy shopping at online are: www.kmart.com www.target.com www.hasbrotoyshop.com www.toysrus.com www.walmart.com

For a limited time the above stores are offering the 2010 Hasbro Ultimate Gifts collection which includes: Biscuit My Lovin' Pup, Butterscotch Pony, Millennium Falcon, Scrabble premier Wood Edition, Ultimate BumbleBee, & Monopoly Game Onyx Edition.

I'd like to share ten tips with my readers on how to make this the ultimate holiday season:

Tip #1: Prepare a Christmas List of people you need to buy Christmas gifts for a what they want and where you will be going to purchase those items. Then to make things fair I always spend about the same amount on each of the children, which is typically between $50 and $70 each. I note how much I'll be spending in total for the children so I don't go over budget. In my case I have eight children to buy for this year, so my budget is between $400 - $540. I do the same for the adults and keep within my budget criteria. After reviewing what each child wants, I see where they stand as far as how much I allocated for each child. If they are under the $50 mark, I compensate by picking out toys I think they would like at stores such as those listed above for some great bargains. I'm especially please with the Hasbro Ultimate Gift Line currently and am considering buying more than one item from there this year.

Tip #2: I like to Prepare my house for Decorating Preperations. I go around the home insuring everything is clean in the house prior to decorating. This way, it makes for a easy transition when Christmas arrives and the house is clean for company.

Tip #3: I make a list for all the foods I'll be preparing for the holidays and I insure that I have all the ingredients on hand when it comes to that special moment. I like baking around Christmas and making special holiday treats for the kids. I sure wouldn't want to deprive the kids (including my husband) of those special goodies.

Tip #4: I also call all my family prior to me holding a Holiday get together at my house to ask each of them to bring a dish to pass. That way, all of our family and guests get to sample great tastes and styles of cooking from different family members.

Tip #5: I also like to check my Christmas supplies before Christmas. I like to insure I have Wrapping Paper, Christmas Tags and tape on hand so when I'm ready to wrap gift I'm not searching everywhere for items at the last minute.

Tip #6: Find excellent hiding places for the gift so kids won't find them. This gets to be a challenge by time they hit 10 or 11 years old because they find it amusing to run around the house searching for their presents before hand and peaking.

Tip #7: I also check for Safety around Christmas. I insure that our lights are turned off before bed or when we leave. I also like to insure that children won't trip and fall on anything that may be laying around the house.

Tip #8: Grooming the pets. I always insure my pets look their best around the holidays. I take them in and get their hair cuts and bows put in their hair.

Tip #9: Insuring their are enough drinks to go around. I like my family to be happy around the holidays so we make sure their are enough kids drinks and adult drinks for family members. Holiday Punch is a favorite for our family and it's kid friendly.

Tip #10: Make sure the children have games to play with. We always insure that we have games that the kids can play around the holidays. It keeps them occupied while the adults enjoy playing games together as well.

Well, that's my list to make our Holiday run smoothly!

Rayovac Powers Your Summer Giveaway

The first 99 bloggers to promote the Rayovac Powers Your Summer Promotion will win a prize package from Rayovac.

Don't miss the
Rayovac Powers Your Summer Twitter Event to be held on June 30, 2010!
The location of the event is #rayovac and you can follow on twitter @Rayovac_Battery, @5minutesformom, and @CirclePRMary.

I'm going to power my summer by taking photo's and video's of my family while on vacation.  We intend on going up north during the summer and fall months.  We are taking a trip up to Cheboygan and will be camping near the beaches.  We will be using Rayovac batteries for our camera, flashlights, lanterns, and other camping items because they last long and perform better than the others batteries.  We intend on taking several photo's while on the beach in the summer months and a few videos too.   My daughter enjoys swimming and taking a ride in the boat with dad.  We take photo's of us tubing.   I'm fortunate to have found a battery that we can trust that won't let us down when we are taking photo's.   It is a real downer when camera batteries die and you end up having to run to the store to get batteries when you are in the middle of having fun.  Plus, we really enjoy capturing our summer events and showing them off to family.  Typically, during the fall we travel to Niagra Falls and take photo's of the leaves as they display their collage of bright oranges, reds and yellows.  The surrounding area of Niagra Falls is also spectacular around Fall as well.  We will be taking videos and sending them to family over facebook.   I'm hoping to post my photo's on twitter after we return from our vacations.  I'm glad we have our Rayovac batteries packed because our vacation just wouldn't be complete without them!

iPad Giveaway
My Review for Savvy Coupon Mommy

How Would You Like One Of These Shipped To Your House?

You can enter to win an iPad by simply entering the giveaway located on Savvy Coupon Mommy's blog:  http://savvycouponmommy.blogspot.com/

An iPad is on almost everyone's wish list lately, including mine.  I ran across this giveaway while browsing through blogs and reading what people were writing about.  I was happy to come across this particular blog only to notice that an iPad was on their giveaway list.

One of my friends currently has an iPad and I got to tinker with it.   It was very user friendly and what really caught my attention is that there was no keyboard.  "WHAT?" no keyboard?  I didn't think I would like it because typically I like to use what is most familar to me.  Although, I must admit I was pleasantly suprised when I turned it on and simply used a single finger to browse through 1000's upon 1000's of applications!!! I was further amazed at the fact that I could take this paper sized computer (aka iPad) from one room to the other without dragging along a heavy laptop or several cords.  I can even take it in the bathroom if I want and read the newspaper online or a favorite magazine.  Wooooweeee!  Okay, so aside from being wireless because it has a built in WiFi it has 1000's of  applications that we must touch on.  I went to the application store which was found on http://www.apple.com/ website.  I started browsing throught the endless applications.  Once I started fingering through them,  I found it hard to put the iPad down.  I was absolutely astonished at all the applications.   I'll list a few of my favorites and the capabilities of the applications.
1.  Netflix.  I found it exciting that I could use the touchscreen to select any movies I wanted to watch.  The movies were neatly organized by various search catagories.  I even took the iPad in a room and watched a t.v. show at one point.   There were many options for watching both tv shows and movies.
2.  Photography Applications.   There are so many that I can't begin to name just one.   There were some app's that allowed the user to switch faces with others in the photo, others app's converted the photo's to make them look old-fashioned, other app's changed the color of a single item in the phot and included other grayscale/cropping/etc. features.  The applications were so fresh that I have never had so much fun in one day arranging photo's and changing them to my liking.
3.  Games.  The game applications were mind-blowing as well.  The screen made most everything look and feel like it was 3D and you were part of the game.   Talk about a gaming experience that makes you part of the game - iPad is definately a step above the rest.
4.  Music.  This is a music lover's dream.  I even got to listen to music from several countries and people around the world.  Not only was I able to listen to anyone's music but they could hear my music as well and they had the ability to let me know if they enjoyed my music.   I think this application almost brought tears to my eyes - SERIOUSLY.   It took me to the future and gave me a look at something I never figured was possible.
5.  Books.  If you are a book lover, look no further!!!!  You have come to the right place - you have now official stepped into iPad Book Heaven!   The iPad does extraordinary things that captivate any reader.   It brings characters to life as well as providing the best combination of audio and visual effects possible.   Browse with ease through several books with the brush of your finger tip.  It will bring joy to your kids life as well as those of us who are adults and love to read.   It's a new experience, one that you won't want to miss!

Okay, so I could go on and on and on...........
...............and on about the iPad but I guess the only way to experience one for yourself is to enter the contest!

SodaStream Review and Giveaway
My Review for Mama Hill's Blog

I've been entering giveaways for some time now and this product caught my eye since I've recently given up on drinking soft drinks (aka pop).  Last month I decided to stop drinking pop because I found myself gaining weight and being bloated.  For about a month or so I've been drinking water.   It's been difficult to change my habits because I miss the taste and flavor of pop.  The SodaStream caught my attention for several reasons.  The first reason is that the SodaStream doesn't contain high-fructose corn syrup, and they offer diet flavors which are sweetened with Splenda. The second is that it offers over 30 SodaStream sodamixes.  Some of their flavors are listed here: flavors.  The third reason is that it is Environmentally a good choice for reducing my CO2 footprint.   SodaStream uses water straight from my tap unlike store-bought beverage with their plastic containers.  The last reason is that SodaStream is 25 cents per liter to make yourself.   I was spending $1.80 on a two liter pop four times a week.  My household of three was drinking four bottles a week and it was costing me $7.20 for each week.  It use to cost me $28.80 monthly for pop.  The SodaStream cuts costs down significantly and there are such great flavors to select from.   The investment of a SodaStream really adds value to how you choose to drink.

Rabbit Air Purifier Review and Giveaway!
My Review for Mama Hill's Blog

IT'S LIKE A BREATH OF FRESH AIR!

Over the past four years I've been running around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to figure out what has been the source of our household breathing problems.   It's scary when you have a daughter that has asthma, a mother with aspiration in her lungs and me who has had ongoing issues with breathing as well.  My daughter has been seeing a allergy and asthma specialist her entire life and I have periodically gone myself.  We are both allergic to dust, mold and feathers.  The test results for me showed that I'm highly allergic to mold.   My daughter is on Advair and an inhaler and I've been using Claritin for my allergies.  My mom is undergoing chest x-rays to see what the source of her aspiration is.  I've also had such severe problems with breathing that I've lost air through my breathing passage and have had to go outdoors to seek fresh air in the night and during the day.  I could go on about this because I've had such problems that the scope of being sick has led me to the hospital even.   There has been a few things that I've done to try to get household dust under control.  These are some of the things I've done to help reduce household dust:
1.  Clean our homes Ducts.
2.  Get rid of dust collector items, like trinkets in our home.
3.  Purchase Organic items, mostly for bedding and pillows.
4.  Make sure my furnace filters are changed regularily.
5.  Make sure that you change the furnance humidifier filters each year or mold with gather.
6.  Open windows and allow fresh air to circulate.
7.  Dust and mop daily.
8.  Buy paints with low VOC's (Volitile Organic Compounds).
9.  Invest in air purifier.  The Rabbit Air Purifier would be a great investment.
10. Get rid of carpet and have hardwood floors.  (This made a life and death difference for me - seriously!)

I was amazed to learn that houses have 10 times more polluted than the air outside.  Those are scary statistics considering that I'm indoors 70% of my time.  So, with that being said I did a little research on the Rabbit Air Purifier to see how it would help our household.  The Rabbit Air Purifier draws in household pollutants and traps the particles into a filter.  It runs quietly and has some great features.  Some of the features are the indicator lights which idenitify odors or chemical and dust levels.   What a fantastic product for anyone with allergies or anyone that just simply wants a piece of mind that they aren't breathing indoor pollutants.

WIN a Bounce House at Two Of A Kind, Working On A Full House during her Outdoor Oasis Event!
My Review for Two Of A Kind Working On A Full House

There are so many great ideas for party get togethers but if you really want to see a huge smile on your childs face try a bounce house.   Your kids will love it. Mine did.  We decided to get a bounce house for my daughter's 7th Birthday Party.  She planned on inviting eight girls.  I asked what she thought about us getting a bounce house for her and her friends to jump around in.  I'm not sure if she really knew what it was, but she looked enthusastic.  I think that the "jumping" part may have had something to do with it.  The day of her party came and the Bounce House put a big smile on her face after daddy set it up in the yard.   The kids that came to her party seen it set up in our yard and they all had big smiles too.  The parents of our guests were thrilled and asked us where we could get on like it.  As each child arrived at the party they immediately ran for the bounce house.   Well, needless to say the bounce house was a huge hit at the party.  There was some great food and other small games but nothing came close to the enjoyment that each child got from playing and jumping all day.   The party was such a hit that it was the talk of my daughter's friends for weeks after.

Wilton Chocolate Pro™ Electric Chocolate Melter - Giveaway!
My Review For The Penny-Pinching Mama

THE KEY TO MAKING PERFECT CHOCOLATE!

I'm a huge chocolate lover!  I enjoy making chocolate for several occassions.  Whether it be a special Holiday or Birthday, chocolate goes over really well with our family and friends.  My daughter enjoys spending quality time with me making chocolate's.  We typically warm up chocolates the old fashion difficult way by boiling a pan of water and then putting a second pan on top to melt the chocolate.  That basically means we are using two pans and will need to wash two pans when we clean up.  When I ran across this nifty Wilton Chocolate Pro I was completely impressed and knew immediately that I needed to own one.  It makes the entire process of making chocolate more convenient and fun.  Plus, it really makes the process look and feel more clean with one product that is meant to melt chocolate.
